Pattern Requests - Forum Rules
Welcome
This forum is specifically used for requesting and fulfilling patterns. It is not intended for open conversation. Simple banter and thank you's are OK. But any meaningful conversation should be conducted in the appropriate forum.
These are the rules for using the Pattern Requests forum. Please be sure to read through them before posting.
Pattern Designers:
If a request is made that may have broad appeal (generic designs, wildlife, scenics, famous portraits, etc), please post the pattern to the Pattern Library and link to it for the requester. This way others may benefit from the new pattern as well. Patterns that do not have a wide appeal (ie, portraits of loved ones, name designs, etc) should be attached to your post using the attach feature.
Copyrights:
Respecting the copyrights of other artists is a high priority for us. Therefore, we cannot offer patterns that are copyrighted, derivative works, licensed or trademarked. Converting copyrighted photos, illustrations, logos, or other artworks into a scroll saw pattern is considered derivative work.
You may only share patterns that you have personally designed. Do not post patterns from other designers, even if credit is given. Instead, indicate where the requester can find the pattern for themselves.
Here is a rundown of some of the things we can and cannot do. This certainly isn't an exhaustive list, but should give you a good idea.
Things we can do:
- Generic designs
- Word art
- Name designs
- Portraits of loved ones
- Designs based on your own photos
- Designs based on public domain/open source images
- Designs based on public domain/open source clipart
Things we cannot do:
- Cartoon characters
- Professional sports logos (or semi-professional)
- University sports logos
- Brands and Trademarks
- Movie Posters/Logos
- TV Logos
- Album Covers
- Copyrighted photographs
- Copyrighted clipart
Requests that do not follow these guidelines may be removed. This is to protect our designers, as well as SSV. Thank you for understanding.
