Ken O Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 I'm planning on doing a big craft show this fall. Last time I did a show I was amazed by how much stuff you could sell if you had cheap things listed at $1-$2. So I decided to make some little toy cars with scrap wood I had in the shop in addition to all the nice bigger stuff I have. I bought the wheels and axles on line and just drew up some cars similar to what I saw on line. I got 68 cut out in a couple hours and almost used up all my scrap. They turned out pretty cute too. The tow trucks aren't done yet, still need to make the hook for the back. LarryEA, Travis, Wilson's Woodworking and 1 other 4 Quote

patrol681 Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 What a commendable idea! They are really cute, and parents with small kids should snap them up. Wish you much success with your sales. Quote
don in brooklin on Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 They look great. A friend of mine used to say that even if the show was a dud he would always pay for his table with the little cars. He used them as a draw to get the parents to come and look at his booth. Make sure you have a big SALE sign. What else can you buy for a kid a loonie or two. Good luck. Quote
Travis Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 Depending on your market, but I'd sell them for $3-5 each. I saw one guy who only had a 4'x4' table about 2' off the ground where he and the kids played cars and spun tops. He sold them for $5 each (the cars, not the kids) and couldn't keep them on the shelves. Hordes of kids surrounded the table to get a chance to play. Most of them walked away with a new toy. heppnerguy Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 I love how rather simple things can attract sales where some of the really unique and detailed things can sit, show after show Dick heppnerguy Quote
