My first inlay box!

This is a Steve Good project and it is the very first time trying the inlay. I love it and had a great time making this box. Steve has a video on how this box is made but I had to guess at the angle to cut for the dolphin as my computer has no sound. I think I did a pretty good job on it. I'm out of finish but will get some put on it when I can get some. This is made of scrap poplar and scrap plywood. I didn't like the way the ply looked so I put a dark oak finish on the dolphin and I'm going to leave the rest of the box as it is and just put a clear finish on it. Enjoy   Fay

Girl you are GOOD with a capital G. First box should go on the mantle for a conversation piece when the girls come over for tea and crumpets, lol. Boxes are addicting!Even if you don't have what you need to finish it something will light up and you'll make it better than it was going to be. No worries ,nice job,and thanks for the photo's they tell the whole story for those with no audio on their computer, lol :)

Thanks every one. On payday I will order some more wood from the Ocooch hard wood co. some dark wood and some light wood so I can try other inlay projects. One of these days I want to try laminating wood too for bowls and the like. This is a really cute little box. Thanks again,, Fay

Thanks again every one. It was a lot of fun. I used a #1 Fd UR blade on the inlay and then cut the top and the bottom with the same blade. I used a # 5 on the inner and outer walls of the box. THe box itself is an easy one to make, now that I can do the inlay , it will be easier to do after trying it the first time. I know you have to be very careful on the turns and tight areas.  Have a great evening   Fay
