ChelCass
Last week we were on vacation in Asheville North Carolina. There is a hardware store that is NOT the run of the mill hardware store. They have some hardware, commercial type drill presses, band saws, etc. This hardware store is for the woodworker. They have a very large selection of exotic wood. They had a whole tree cut into slabs with matching grain. We were there for three hours diging thru boxes of scrap pieces of wood they sold by the pound ($1.15 regular and $2.99 a pound for exotic). Plus drooling all over the place on the wood they had stacked downstairs. Here's the website......enjoy!! www.ashevillehardware.com Chelcass

I have one about 50 miles away which is similar but I do not think of the same size where I spend most of my wooden nickels. http://www.midwestwoodworkers.com/ Also another one less than a mile away but the selection is not as good as the first one http://hardwoodheaven.net/ From what others say, I think I am blessed to have two sources relatively close. ChelCass
It is a wonderful store. We wandered around for at least 3 hours. We are planning on going to N.C. every summer to visit family so we will be going to the hardware store. It will be a top priority!!!!! Now I have to check out the two sites Doug posted! NC Scroller
If you are coming down, up or over to NC then you must also check out http://hardwoodstore.com/. I get much of my hardwoods and all my plywood from them. What I really like is their wall of shorts. These are pieces from 12" to 4'. Every species and every width at amazing prices.
