Notification Question

When you EDIT your Profile there is a selection  titled: 'Notification Option'

There are two selection columns you can update:  Notification List and Email.

What does the 'Notification List' do?

I understand the Email but not the Notification List.

Will someone explain please.

In the upper right corner, you'll see an icon next to your name.  That is your notification list.  If something happens that notifies you, it will show up in this list and will usually include a red number to indicate how many notifications you have.  Most of the time, you get notifications if someone likes your post or commented on a blog post, etc.
