heppnerguy
Hey gang, I told you I would get my second attempt at my Eiffel Tower finished this week some time. I jumped on it yesterday and today and here are the results. The pattern had no explanation with it and it ended up being a 'learning experience'. there were angles that were not talked about that made things fit as they should, so I had to make some changes to my already cut out pieces to get it to go together. I am a long way from being totally excited about the end results but i still like it and enjoy looking at it. I also had a little trouble because my wood thickness did not match the pattern either. But never the less. here it is. My thanks go to everyone who encouraged my after I screwed up the first one so bad, to 'go for it' and remake one. and also I wish to thank Hans for his encouragement and pointing me to the pattern source Dick heppnerguy lawson56, jellis, Wilson's Woodworking and 2 others
Rob Roy
A wonderful job Dick, I greatly admire your tenacity for sticking at it. If that had been me It would have finished up at the other end of the street after half an hour. That is one beautiful tower. Nice picture too. . Rob Roy. heppnerguy
Dan, it is nearly 28 inches tall. I recieved several intarsia patterns today so I guess I had better get at them. It is 'one hole at a time'. I am thinking about giving it to my granddaughter because she has a Paris theme room in her house and I really do not have a good place to put it in mine Dick heppnerguy Very nice. I don't think I would have the patience for it. How tall is it?
Scrappile
Very nice. I would be cross-eyed if I completed something like that. That a whole lot of "one hole at a time"!
amazingkevin
I found out that home printers lack in getting things right ,Some where it said to have print shops enlarge the patterns for you.I don't remember my effels looks as good as yours with all the details and all.Good quality job sir! wombatie
Dick I am so glad that you persevered and got it finished because you would not have been happy if it had beaten you, believe me. It looks awesome. And believe me it is a lot more thrilling to look at than the real one, when I first saw that it was the most underwhelming experience. Then to have a bomb scare on the second platform was almost too much, but the 20 minutes it took to walk down the stairs WAS too much. Paris hated us. heppnerguy
Thanks Marg for the nice compliment from you. A couple of years ago, my wife and I had the opportunity to go to Paris and the Eiffle Tower was the one thing I really wanted to see in person, as everyone who goes there, does. There were so many people that we choose not to go up the tower. I imagined the bottom of the tower to be at least 3 times bigger than it was but I fell in love with it immediately and I have made several compound cut Towers and when i saw the one Han's posted that he made, I HAD to give it a try. Glad you like it. Dick heppnerguy Dick I am so glad that you persevered and got it finished because you would not have been happy if it had beaten you, believe me. It looks awesome.
