Handi
Hello Everyone, Been awhile... I'm still here and still around... Althou I've not beek kicking up any Dust on my Saw lately... :( Money is Scarce so I've not been buying any Wood to play around with, hopeing that will change next month as I'd like to get somemore of my Christmas Ornaments out on my Etsy store for the Early Christmas Shopping lol. Anyway, I'm thinking about working on some Desktop Picture Frames that will Fit 4x6 Photos. My Only Hangup is well, Figureing out how to Dimentsion the Numbers and all in a Graphic program, I redone my system while back so I've not installed anything yet, thinking of going the Free Route atm. Anyway, gonna Design some Picture Frames and all with "Mom" "Dad" "Son" "Daughter" Etc on the top, maybe Pet and some lil scroll Saw stuff along the border, but Just wondered if I could get some insight on how to put numbers in to make the inside diminsion the way i want it and the outside the way i want it and have it print at those numbers so when I cut it, it will fit the way i want it to. Travis
Hi Handi. Welcome back. Its good to see you again. I'd use Inkscape to make your frame pattern. Basically, you'd draw 2 squares and resize them to the exact size you need. You can do this on the tool bar. Its just a matter of typing in the size you want. Then take the two squares and "Align and Distribute" to center up the squares. Print, and you have a perfect pattern. You can check out this tutorial. It talks about making name plates, but it does cover how to size your elements and how to use the Align and Distribute tool. Let me know if you have any more trouble. I'd be happy to help. BTW. We'll be starting an Inscape class next Tuesday that will last 4 weeks. Be sure to follow along that class. It should give you a lot of insight on how to create your own scroll saw pattern such as this.

Just looking for something pretty simple but pretty powerful, not Planning on Spending Tons and Tons of time Designing and all, Just a Simple outside frame that I can print that will be in the True Dimentions at whatever I set it at. Once I get a Few Basic Patterns and all, I will Toss some this way for Y'all to check out and maybe use! Handi
greasemonkeyredneck
Scrollsaw Workshop at http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/ has something near the top of the page you can download called a "scrollsaw pattern printer". All it does is make words and numbers to what ever size you want and prints them out. It's a handy little software to have and it's free. I used it here a while back to make a frame for a friend with their name on it. It was for an 8x10, but you can size it accordingly. Just measure the length you want to put it in, size it using the pattern printer, print it out, and apply to your wood in the area you want the lettering.
