Carl Shifflett
Hi, new to the forum but not to Scroll Sawing. I have just came across a product called Plyboo. It is a Baboo laminated ply and looks like it would make a nice media for Fretwork. Has any one tried this product and if so how's the cutting? Thanks, Shiffy

Rob Roy
Hello Carl and welcome to the village, I don't think that will be available to us over the pond so to speak, Thanks for the imfo, Bob You can get ply backed bamboo flooring in the UK Bob, but I would imagine it could be a bit hard on scroll blades Rob Roy. bobscroll

heppnerguy
Carl, i have not heard of this product being for sale anywhere around my area, but I have scrolled bamboo in thin sheets, which might be the name of the product, and I was not aware of it. I have to say that bamboo is a wonderful item to scroll because is it very dense and it does not break easily when cutting. I cut a small ornament out of bamboo and it was not any thicker than a sheet of paper. It came out realy well. I would not hesitate to give it a go if I were you. Carl Shifflett
Sorry I should of posted a link. http://www.plyboo.com/ I saw some cutting boards cut into various shapes like States and animals with some detail. I think they were done on CNC. You can request samples on their website so I think I'll start there. MrsN
I have made things from bamboo cutting board. Sometimes you can find nice cutting boards in the clearance section of HomeGoods or TJMax and similar stores. The cutting boards that I have used cut really well, but left a very fine sawdust. similar to mdf, probably due to all the glue used. It also has a different smell. I cant remember what the smell was, but it was different.
