New from Ontario Canada

Hi everyone!

I live in Muskoka Ontario Canada.

I inherited a scroll saw from my Dad (busy bee brand) that I used a few times before it burned out. Found a second one at a garage sale (mastercraft) that I was able to make a chicken picture for my chicken coop but it had a melt down too  Nothing like using one with a single speed, no light and popping blades every five minutes. I'm hoping to buy a new used one today that I found on the classifieds. Fingers crossed! Thanks for letting me join!

Tindi Cindi you are welcome here.

What kind is your new saw?

We are reasonable folk here, don't expect much except

for you to take your turn fixing tea and coffee some mornings.

If you can cook, breakfast would be good. Remember, breakfast

could be anytime since we are multi-national. If you fix eggs, some

have to be fried upside down for our Australian and New Zealand members.

Some in the southern zones like hot sauce. Make a 'Full English' for guess who.

A Scottish breakfast is... well, porridge, sausage, pies and beer.

But most of all...participate and show pictures.

Hi Cindy, welcome to the Village.  I'm Marg from Australia.  You are not having much luck with scroll saws are you?  I wish you all the best with your next one because like the saying goes, third time lucky.  Come on down to the coffee shop for breakfast (That lasts all day) and have a few laughs.  If you have any scrolling questions you will always get an answer that will help you.

Thanks for the replies of welcome and breakfast request (made me hungry lol). I was able to purchase a lightly used 16" dremel 1680 for $110 on Sunday. It came with the instruction book and two packs of blades. The fella only used it a few times and it was just collecting dust. I think it will be ok, I especially liked that it came with a light, blower, variable speed and a stand. I have a picture but have to look up how to post a picture. My coffee is poured so I'm gonna figure it out! :)

Welcome, Cindy, I think you will enjoy your new saw  for some time to come. Although I do not join the breakfast group very often, I encourage to you to do so , because it is a quick and fun way to get to know everyone here on The Village. explore all the site and spend some time in The University section. it is all free and will be very helpful for you as it has to almost all of us.

To post a photo, click on the 'more reply options' button on the lower left of your post window and the rest should become apparent. If not, just ask, we all have struggled with the easy parts of posting , at one time or another and we all understand...

I saw the picture of your saw and would never have guessed that was a Dremel. My old Dremel looks totally different. I don’t think they make them any more so I hope it holds up for you. I have used the crud out of mine and it still runs with the many fixes I have done on it.

Welcome to the village and hope to see ya posting plenty of pictures of the many projects you will be doing.

Oh and don’t be afraid to ask questions about a new saw or projects or anything else as far as that goes. These people are a huge help.

Hello Cindi, and a big WELCOME to the family. I'm Roy from Scotland. Seems like you've been having bad luck with scroll saws, but great to see it hasn't put you off scrolling. You will have fun here, but we can be serious,(not very often), but it does happen.

There's more free patterns here than you can shake a stick at, so take advantage of them. If you have a specific pattern you need just ask, and one  or more of our magical pattern makers will come up with the goods. Any problems, just ask,as long as you realise one question will get you goodness knows how many answers   . It's good to see more LADIES joining us to keep us guys in order, at least that's what Marg and the rest of our ladies would say !!!!

Well now Cindy, I see from your profile that you are a dog groomer, and I'm wondering if we send Amazing Kevin up to your salon

you could maybe give him a bit of a tidy up, it might take you a wee while, but I think it would be worth the effort   . There are a few folk here you will have to keep an eye on, but I'll let you find out who they are in due course.

Larry mentioned breakfast. Don't worry about what to make, us lot here will eat anything within reason, especially The Phantom, Kevin and Larry. Here endeth this SSV introduction.

So come on in Cindy, sit yourself down and ENJOY. Don't sit on the black leather chair Larry will get upset.!!!!!.

Rob Roy.

I'm still figuring out this new laptop and windows 8 is a little bizarre to get used to!  Looking forward to learning how to transfer patterns to wood and wood types etc etc

It's snowing here today again!

Hi Cindy, just Googled Muskoka and spent an hour or so looking at some beautiful scenery. What a beautiful place you live in, even in the snow, Hope its not too deep and you're keeping warm. Take care.

They are saying about a foot of snow for the Great Lakes area so you can keep the snow. :scared:  I know last year Chicago was measuring the snow in feet instead of inches.   That is just crazy to me, I hate scooping the stuff. :boo:  :boo:  :boo:  Although it would give me an excuse to stay at home and do some scrolling. ;)  ;):D
