Looking at Dewalt on Craigslist

What price does a new Dewalt 788 go for now days?

This guy wants $350 for used, without a stand. 

Thought I would tell him Amazon has new for $399 with stand.

And Grizzly has them for $450 and I'll give him $175.

He'll probably be insulted and not reply. 

Got nothing to lose I guess.

Use it for backup and do what Jim Finn does. Set it up for inlay meantime.

I have seen a lot of them go for $200 to $250

I gave $250 for mine used, without a stand.

I gave $400 even total for mine new in BOX with stand and the junk light!

 

I would only give $175 for it or less.

also would want to know WHY it is for sale!

 

 

They are good saws; but my rule has always been used = 1/2 price-- Unless they are and very well show almost new condition! then maybe 2/3; but no more than that!

I have one for sale on Graigslist right now, I'm asking $225.  W/O stand.  I have the stand that came with my EX and I'm offering it for an additional $35, The DeWalt can easily be mounted on it.  I'll see how I do.  Only have one interested person so far.  I have to get back to him.

 

I think some of it depends on where you live also.  Around here there are not many scrollers.

 

$350 seems pretty high to me for a used DeWalt especially without stand.

I paid $499 for mine  mew at HD and they still have them for that price w/o stand, if it is a good one you should be able to get it for $250

It's less than 20 miles, I'd pick up or he'd deliver. 

THere are three others within 50 miles on Craigslist ... 1) $450, 2) $350, 3) $325

I'm going to irritate them all... and offer $175

If it was a Type 1 and new or used very little I could see up to $300.  A new or used very little Type 2 I could see about $200-$225.  If it was used a lot the price would drop.

Courier would not cost me anything... It would cost whomever it was sent to .  I won't take $175, I will keep it as a backup if I don't get what I am asking.

Well mine's gone.  First person to look at it took it no questions.  I had to ask if he wanted to hear it run.  By th way, I said in my other post I was asking $225.  Actually it was $250 and that is what he gave me.

Mine went for $250 without a stand.  The stand I had would have been an extra $35. He had a cabinet to mount it on.  Mine did have a riser on it and I gave him all the blades I had that were not Flying Dutchman.

     I think $200 is a fair price if the saw performs well. I would not want to pay more for one on Craigs list..  I think $200 will get you a good one. Without the stand, still good.

I live in So. Cal. so everything here costs more but there are millions of people so things are way more plentiful. I bought a used type 1 with stand and light for $250. The table was a bit rusty but it cleaned up very well. Works like a charm and no wear and tear on the moving parts. I guess it really depends on the market where you live. If there are a lot of used ones, go for the best of of the lot. Anything below retail is good if it's in good to new condition.

Yes, that's a type one. But it also means it's twelve to fifteen years old!

the third one is a type 2 and i got that one on craigs list too for $250.00 still have never cut anything on it yet, but did run it to hear it and check what i know about them for wear and tear.

I would rather buy a slightly used 15 year old Type 1 then a brand new Type 2.
