Scrappile
I'm curious if anyone in the U.S. has purchased any patterns from this site and if it is legit and what does it usually cost for shipping? Got some beautiful stuff here. http://www.finescrollsaw.com/order.htm Scrolling Steve
dgman
I personally have not bought from him, but I have heard nothing but good. As far as shipping, he is in Europe so I would think it's not cheap.

heppnerguy
Paul. at the top of his page he instruct one to send him the name of the pattern you are interested in and your location and he will send you the shipping cost before you make your purchase, at least that is how I understand it... I have been eyeing his patterns for a long time..but not made a purchase yet. He also has a free sample of his patterns on the right side of the page. i just downloaded it to see what they are like. His patterns are made really well , if this one is like the others. Dick heppnerguy Edited November 23, 2014 by heppnerguy
Dan
This is an interesting site. If you look under the Historcal books section there is a catalog of Bowman patterns. It was created in 1880 but the work is in the same style as our own, the late Dirk Bowman. I wonder if there is a connection there.

They, the parent company that published CWWC and several others, went bankrupt shortly after the August 2014 issue was released.
Bendita
Although I've never personally purchased a pattern from these people but have made many of their patterns into a reality remember my bridge is one of theirs as far shipping just ask them if it is downloadable to safe on the shipping cost, most folks do that now. I see the free sample one is downloadable so I don't see why the rest wouldn't be. Good luck. PS Kevin I already knew about these guys I drool on their pages regularly. Scrappile
I received info back this morning on the pattern I was interested in. For those interested in what it costs, there is a copy of the email: I can send you the patterns 028 to the USA in two ways:1. In pdf by email. In this case the price is the price of the patterns and there is noshipping cost thus the total is 9 euro. You need to know that they must be printedwith an A3 size printer.Since these printer sizes are not common at homeyou may need to take them to a printing shop for printing. With this method you will get the patterns withinhours after payment. 2. Already printed, by registered mail. The shipping cost is 6 eurothus the total is 15 euro. You can make the payment to mypaypal account info@finescrollsaw.comTo make the payment you go to www.paypal.com andfollow the instructions to send the payment to my paypal accountinfo@finescrollsaw.com You do not need to create a paypalaccount or register with paypal in any way. Please make the payment in euros, you will be charged inUS dollars by your card provider. Please do not makepayments in dollars. If you find this confusing tell me your choice and Iwill invoice you with a paypal email from which you canpay following easy instructions. So the first option would run around $11.19 converted to US dollar. I don't know what A3 printer means. Looks like they take 11.7 x 16.5 paper. I don't know what it would cost to get it printed. The second option would run me $18.66 US. Not as bad as I thought it would be but I have to give it some more thought. The first method is a PDF file, I'm wondering why I couldn't print it like a poster, I have that option on my printer.
Travis
He's been around for quite a long time and sells very nice patterns. I haven't bought any personally, but I know those who have and they enjoy them. Wilson's Woodworking
scrimper
I don't know what A3 printer means. Looks like they take 11.7 x 16.5 paper. A3 is the same as 2 A4 sizes side by side, A2 is 2 x A3 side by side etc A4 is 210mm x 297mm or 8.3" x 11.7" A3 is 297mm x 420mm or 11.7" x 16.5" I recently bought an Epsom office A3 scanner/printer for the very purpose of scanning and printing fretwork plans. I find it brilliant. Whilst A4 printers are cheap as chips once you get to A3 the prices are at least 4 times higher for the cheapest A3 printer compared to the cheapest A4 one. scrimper
The person who owns the site in question has posted on the UK forum under the name of Pedro, (he has similar interests to myself regarding the Hobbies and Handicraft companies.) He offers lots of old hobbies fretwork plans that you can download for free an example is shown below. I can vouch that the downloads are 'safe', the patterns are old and out of copyright. Scrappile
Thanks for the info Scrimper. I have downloaded a couple of his free plans. Have not done any yet. I found that the plan I bought, I could convert it from .pdf format to .jpeg with Gimp. Then I could print it as a poster using Posterazor. Them tape the pages together, just like I do with other patterns. Bendita
scrimper
I always find patterns filled with bold colour and no single outline (like the one above) more difficult to cut out than following a distinct line so what I do is process them in photoshop repairing any missing bits or creases then changing the fill to a much lighter shade and apply a outline to follow which for me anyway makes them much easier to cut out. Below is my version of the bird bracket I posted above. NC Scroller

DWSUDEKUM
I purchased a couple of years ago the pattern for the locking combination box he has a pattern for. Other than being metric which is no real issue I had no problem what so ever. Lucky2
I purchased a pattern from Pedro a few years ago, it was a pleasant experience. He's quick to reply to any questions you might have, and he does what he can to keep his customers happy. I read some of his customers replies, and they seem to be happy with his service and there's little to no negativity in their responses. If it was me that was purchasing it, I would bite the bullet and pay the extra to have a printed copy sent to me. The reason for doing so, would be due to some copiers and printers distorting the size of the pattern. I had this happen to me once, the printer downsized parts the pattern by 3%, it was a nightmare and an awful waste of BB plywood. Scrappile
Will since this has been reactivated lately, I thought I'd tell how it went. I emailed Pedro letting him know what I wanted to purchase on a Sunday evening. A reply was waiting for me the next morning. I paid through Paypal, and with in about 2 hours my pattern was ready for me to down load. It was painless. I hope I don't have the problem Lucky2 is mentioning, I have printed the pattern, but have not started the cutting. Not sure when I will get to it. Other things to get accomplished first. The pattern looks a little daunting to me because I have never done one like it before, but I'm sure I will figure it our. Travis
