Multifasited
You know who you are , I was going over past posts on two different scroll Forums many many posts .I should have written it down ,I apoligize for my inability to credit by name the tipster ,but a big thank you ! The Tip was (clip on mag.glasses) better yet he named the source .I never knew they existed in clip on form ,w/ tri focals they are the cats meow ! I bought a pair ,tried them in the store . Came home moved my mag lite out of the way ,cut a little ,I am blessed with plenty of lite at my saw area and dremel cabinet and drill press ,(4 2-bulb daylite floresent 4'er s ,removed the large mag, lite assenbly ,left the swivel mounting clips just in case .what a difference ,always got backfeed reflection from it ,although it easily swung completely out of the way and had a keyed return still had issues with my eyes blinking and fiddleing because of my position changing during turns etc. caught that reflexion causeing distorsion in the image always at the wrong time. long story short all that is gone now ,eyes feel much better ,so if you wear glasses ,they are super and gets a large newcents (spell errors abound ) and weight out of the way completely .I left the small spot lite ,mounted and keyed with the vac pick up,it was never in the way . Hunted for an hr and could not remember where your post was ,but I wanted to say thanks and give you what credit I could and also pass along to some one else ,who missed your original post also .The source by the way is in large sewing dept. got mine at hobbylobby next to the knitting supplies .$9.99 . I have gotten and given alot of tips on these forums ,But for me this ranks way up there in value to me and anyone that wears glasses ! Thanks Again !! Multifasited
They are just like clip on sunglass's only magnifing clear lens ,thy work great on my tri-focals ,nothing special ,no loops no adjustment .their for constant close work like scrolling ,needle point ,I just never knew the were made in clip on form , I keep a laundry softener sheet in the case when not in use for static ,I don't have a dust problem when I'm scrolling anyway with my vac set-up. wombatie
heppnerguy
A good thing to keep in mind. I love the tips you catch here.. I saw the one about using a heat gun on the patterns to remove the left over pattern when you had it all cut. I had totally forgotten it and then I saw it again last week and I gave it a try.. worked so well, I could not believe it. I think that I will not even be using my blue painter tape anymore either. Anyone else have some tips to refresh our memories with ? Dick heppnerguy
Multifasited
Dick .I like to use opaque shelf paper on the wood and put the pattern sheet glued to that ,when done heat gun ,used careful entire pattern even delicut comes off in one pc. cheaper than tape ,seamless .shelf paper is actually plastic self adhesive ,I use clear to not show thru and obscure pattern! one roll lasts and lasts ,roll about 18" wide not sure about lenght but plenty ! back side distances marked ,I cut oversize and trim off extra w/ razor blade ,or wrap and helps eliminate most fuzzies . use provides lube . Phantom Scroller
I use re-positional spray glue on the pattern then stick it to the wood and put clear 2" sellotape over top and I never have issues getting pattern off. l Iike the glasses one I prefer that to my giant magnifying glass. heppnerguy
Good ideas. I started using the painters tape because when I used the spray glue as Roly does on patterns with a lot of intricate cuts I found it left a residue and hindered finishing. The tape was not a problem. I also found that using the heat gun seems to leave less if the residue on the peace. I have tried the cello tape over the pattern but I really do not care for that. I was very pleased to discover that I can use my electric sander on even very I intricate cut things without it breaking my finished cut piece. It easily takes off the any remaining residue that might be left on the surface. And last if all, It is still not clear to me what eating yellow snow has to do with scrolling but since I have not ever tried it, I will just have to trust your word on that one, Paul. With all your experience I think I just won't bother to give it a try Dick heppnerguy
wombatie
Where did you get the glasses from? I might get myself a pair after Christmas. I use the Peel & Stick from The Scroller is does not leave any residue and comes off easily. Cut it the size of your wood, fix it on, peel off the top layer, put the pattern on, cut, peel off. Simple. Marg
Multifasited
Any store that sells knitting and sewing supplies,I use the self stick shelf (frosted) ,cheapest i could find ,cheaper than tape or the advertised scroll stuff on line .pretty tuff stuff ,hair dryer or heat gun removes very easily ,leaves very little resado if any cool heat leaves non ! Glasses used for needle point etc.they work great wit my trifocals ,and flip up when changing blades etc. and no reflections like i always got with mag lite if any other lite source was around ,plus no constant changing mag lite and gives you free open area for hands . JustLarry
Got mine and have been using them for two days now. WHAT A DIFFERENCE they make with my trifocals. Only two problems with them 1)have to remember to flip them up when I move around cause they make the floor/ground appear closer than it really is. 2) took so long to find out about these. Got them at Hobby Lobby with 40% off coupon. Also noticed they are available at Amazon, Walmart, etc. This link shows picture of them. http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/clip-and-flip-magnifying-glasses-958272/ From a TV comedy show long ago “Looking Goodâ€.
