Southern Scroller
I'm happy to be here and trying to absorb some knowledge from so many who know so much more than me. I've just returned to scrolling after a long absence and hope to have some fun. I cleaned the minor rust off my old type 1 DW788 and she's ready to work. Perhaps I'll be able to show a couple of projects soon and hope to give some suggestions to help others.

Rover2
Welcome to the village Dennis. I'm Al from south TN. Our situations are very similar. My wife and I traveled the US for 9 years in our RV and there was no scrolling. (no room in the RV for that) Our son stored my 788 Type 1 the whole time and when we settled down here in TN a couple years ago, I got it back. I had to do a lot of rust removal both with the saw and myself. My first project was pretty bad. Should have kept it for something to laugh at later. Glad to have you with us. rjR
Hello, and welcome to the asylum! I still claim that I have the oldest working saw here! I have a 1952 Craftsman-- without a motor It uses electromagnet and a spring steel plate, been on homemade parts for many decades.--but it does work! I bought it new in 1953; but by serial # it is a 52 model year. I use it about once a year for really thin stuff. My working saw is the DW788 and I like it well. Eventually I do hope to get good at scrollsawing!

Wilson's Woodworking
Welcome to the village! Dust off the saw and put a new coat of saw dust on her. I just have one word of advice before you start. I would take those sunglasses off before you try to cut anything otherwise you won't be able to see the line. Make sure you show plenty of pictures. We love to see everyones work.
