gator
well couldnt find my origanal post but got around to glassing and framing the gun so its done. first time to use a wash. cut new western red cedar for frame. watch some utube and tried this. 1 quart white vinager and 2 0000 steel wool unrolled so it was flat in a plastic pail with a lid. let it sit 4 days and added another quart of water. paint the frame and next day its aged and old looking . lot easier than working with old rotten fence pickets Edited December 4, 2014 by gator vykus and lawson56
Scrappile
Looks great, Gator. The frame is perfect for that picture. I've used the vinegar/steel wool mix several times to ebonize wood. It works pretty good.

LarryEA
Great job...love it! I read the aging process twice and maybe it will stick with me this time. Wonder how it would work with old barn wood that has a new cut. I do like the pistol and holster. Classic western. I must say, I am in no way disappointed by the way it turned out. I would call it 'OUTSTANDING' Dick heppnerguy

penquin
Great cut on a super pattern. Have used the vinager stain technique and love it. You just don't know what it will look like since it goes on clear and then changes but it is fun watching what comes out. jim penquin
