Savannah Scroller Posted December 4, 2014 Report Posted December 4, 2014 HELP! I need a computer expert!.or someone who thinks they are. My Good computer died and I don't know what to do. You can be doing something and the screen goes Black and the puter locks up! Or it goes to the Dreaded Blue Screen. Now I really screwed up. I tried to download a old copy of Windows 7 into it hoping it might find & fix the problem and it only loaded some of windows. I did not have the right CD key it said I guess I wrote it down wrong. The computer has not run right ever since we had a lighting storm. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr Quote

gunnerb47 Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 Lighting strike and blue screen. Sounds hardware issue to me. Hopefully you will have a quality surge protector on your system after you replace or repair. Remember Surge protector for sensitive electronics they trip you replace them. Compared to computer it is a cheap item. You can use old ones like i do in shop for extra outlets. If you were close I would be happy to look at it for you. I keep my neighbors computers up and running when possible. It depends on how old the unit is but I find most computer repair guys end up charging too much. might be time for a new one or some cautious second hand purchases. Good luck Quote
gunnerb47 Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 Definitely be careful if you call one of those online companies, they have a tendency to charge enough to buy new and most times leave you with a squirrely operating unit. One neighbor did that and was well over a c note. She found out I did some repair work and I ended up fixing it for her for the price of coffee and cake (: She bakes good so I figured I really got a good deal Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 OH NO THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. That usually means your hardrive is about to crash back up everything because once it goes you will have to get another hard drive and it will be hard to retrieve data. Roly Quote
