tvman44
I want to cut a new sub-base plate for my Dewalt router out of plastic sheet about 1/4" thick, what would be the best to cut on the scroll saw? Acrylic, Lexan or what. I would prefer something I can find eaisly like at a big box store in small quanities. Any experienced help and advice out there. Phantom Scroller
You will have to use a large blade to cut perspex or acrylic as you say I'm sure they do one for plastics otherwise it closes up behind the blade. Been there, done that. lol Roly
Multifasited
Lexan must better acrylic scratches easy ,I've made several over the yrs ,band saw or scroll saw works outer ,holes saw or scroll saw inner ,leave paper on ,I also use candle wax to eliminate refusing plastic ,slower speed bigger teeth ! I made a 16"inch one for special project .Lexan harder to find and much more expensive .If you have and and are good you can do with jig saw .fileing reguired .not hard just take time and care ! oldhudson
I've made 3 over the years. I used clear cast acrylic. I'm pretty sure I mail ordered the stock, my memory is not was it used to be. I agree with everything Carl said about cutting.
