I am a 36 year old man from Belgium, and new to the scroll saw.

I wil probely buy a Proxonn DSH scroll saw.

The store is close to my hometown, as I do not thrust the internetsites with the given feedback regarding quality.

I would like to find some 3D animal patern, as i think they are cool to make.

Maybe somebody can help me with finding those paterns.

I can not drawn them, as i would fail trying :-)

Hello Scroll mouse,

welcome to the forum.

I am from the Netherlands, that makes us practically neighbours.

I read you are searching for 3D animal patterns.

You can get those for free on a dutch website.

I just don't know if it's allowed to write the internetadress here.

I'll send you a personal message.

Richard.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome

Regarding the paterns.

I am looking for a patern that comes with a front and a left or right side.

When you attach those sides on your workpiece, you can cut both sides out and you will have a nice 3D figure. :)

I have found many on YouTube, but not with a download to make them.

And if you find a download you have to pay

I hope that someone has a nice website for making some lovely pieces in 3D.

Hi Gregory,

Welcome to the site!! I love this site and the wide geographical footstep it covers

I have looked into 3-D Animal patterns a bit for my whirligig patterns and have ended up making my own from downloaded animal pics, then resizing them to get matching sizes to the the two 2-D sides. However, with that said, I usually end up drawing in the loose edges. I really think the one's artistic talents grow as he/she continues to develop and create new ideas and plans. In addition, you might check wood carving sites for 3-D animal patterns/templates. Good luck and welcome aboard...

Look at Homer and Carol Bishops posts here. They make 3 D intarsia pieces. they sell their patterns but Homer posted one of them to download free here on The Village. He entitled it something like " here is a challenge for anyone" of something similar to that. Go look it up.

Thanks guys for the info :)

Today i have bought my scroll saw :-)

Finally. The scroll saw look smaller than on the website

But it would be a nice one to start with.

I was printing a dolphin last time, and it printed it verry smal :-(

I can't seem to figure out how i can make a piece on ( sketch up ) and print it out exactly with the sizes i have on the software.

I think it is the printer software, but brother says it is sketch up

Someone any idea?

tomorow i'll start on a bit scrolling

Gregory,

You might want to download,  GIMP or/and inkscape. They are both free software and there are quite a few tutorial videos here in The Village forum to help you to learn and understand these programs. You will find the free videos in the university tab as you scroll  down the forum tabs. Many here use these programs for making patterns and it is easy to make the patterns the exact size you want them to be. Give it a try, any questions can be answered in regards to these programs.

Hello Gregory welcome to the forum I noticed on the picture of your scroll saw that its a pin type meaning the blade has 2 little pins in them 1 on each end which will cause you a lot of frustration in the future if possible seek out a saw that takes either both or pinless believe me you won'y regret it. You see even in compound cutting you need to drill a hole to put your blade in so with the pin type machines your hole needs to be much larger then say a pinless blade.

 just saying.
