Savannah Scroller Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 I FOUND THIS AT A YARD SALE A WHILE BACK ANY CLUES AS TO WHAT IT MIGHT BE USED FOR? Quote
Around the corner Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 I'm my opinion in this is having had a uncle who was a carpenter I would say this is used for storing chisels and hammers and bottom drawers for screws. The person probably installed doors or so maybe not Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 That would also be my guess. The right side is definitely for chisels of some sort. Perhaps lathe tools. This might be a box for the tools of a carousel horse restorer or something like that as well. DW Quote
lawson56 Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 I was thinking along the same lines,It is a tool box for a special type of tool thats for certain. Quote
loftyhermes Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Looks like a box for a childs tool set. Quote
amazingkevin Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Reminded me of a microscope case i had once. Scrolling Steve 1 Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) I am going to think outside the3 box(no pun intended) .....A storage box made for a childs science kit...microscope and test tubes and maybe some glass beakers and slides.....Who knows?.....While I was typing my guess Kevin beat me to the punch! Bendita Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 No Idea what it is but I do love the hinges in all my years in woodworking thats the first ones I've seen like that Scrolling Steve 1 Quote
Wilson's Woodworking Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) That is the tool storage unit that I want to build for the wall behind my lathe. I would store my chisels in the door and all the other handy little gadgets in the rest of it. :D The swing out part is for face plates and chucks and the like. ike Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Looks like a tool chest that you carry to a work site. I have no idea what kind of tools that might go into it. Quote
LarryEA Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 My wife said," It's a box for something." and I agree. Quote
JustLarry Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Maybe a start up for Larry amazingkevin and Wilson's Woodworking 2 Quote
jerry1939 Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Interesting hinges. Appear to have springs to hole the doors either open or closed. Have no idea what the top hardware is. I would guess that it was made for a magician. He was to put a thin woman in it, close it and saw the box & woman in half. The shelves & holders were for her to store her make up so that she would look beautiful when she emerged. Other selves for storing towels to soak up the blood, in the event the stunt went horribly wrong. jerry Quote
LarryEA Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Ike pinned tHAT ONE... iT'S A box for whatever you want it to be. Quote

Savannah Scroller Posted January 8, 2015 Author Report Posted January 8, 2015 Thanks for all the responses. As I said I found it at a yard sale several months back and put it in a corner and forgot about it until I was cleaning up the other day & found it. William I am not sure if I will use it for anything. I was looking at it for maybee Scroll saw storage & Exacto knifes stuff like that. Its not big enough to use to store a whole lot. Tommy Quote
Kragax Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 I looks like a woodcarvers toolbox I have seen in the past. Mine lay flat in a toolmaker's box but I have seen ones like this before. Quote
