Multifasited
Finally eliminated the shadows and got a magnifier thats truly adjustable ,I found a chrome soldering helper man w/ lite at Goodwill for $7.95 , Changed his personality &configuration and modified the magnifier to except the swivel joints . once set ,swings completely out of the way and is still keyed to return exactly every time ,best $8 I have spent in a long time ! wombatie and LarB
rjR
Much more cost effective than my Rockler unit that they have lowered the price 2 times on since I bought mine!!!!! IF it works for you that is all that matters!

Bendita
Great set up at a bargain price, I'm blessed with a good set of eyes, so far a pair of glasses is all I need but of course, everything is subject to change.
amazingkevin
I have the soldering helper somewhere in box #? I'd have to take the heavy weight of to do like yours .But i had the big draftsman magnifier with the round florescent light but did not like the view.I boggled my eyes and strained them to try and focus. oldhudson
It is so satisfying to make a change in your shop or tools that helps make things easier, more accurate, more convenient or flexible. And if you can do it on the cheap you deserve praise. Well done Carl.

I found the same thing you did with the big flor, unit ,bulky heavy and very un handy, this is a cheap hand held one 5" lighter and easier to use just removed the handle dremeled a cavity side ways and epoxied the swivel to it ! Real happy with dust free on every thing ,now very user friendly w/o shadows and dark spot s ,could be set up for left or right handed use ,with out any extra adjustments w/ plenty of free room for hand clearance and work ! I also removed 1 1/2"of front tray to allow better sight angle and still catch the chips .

Unfortunately ,cheap has become the defining factor ,as of late .thankfully , I was a bit of a pack rat and saved useful things ,and now have a supply of things to recycle ,modify and convert .plus a lot of things to keep my mind busy ,keeping boredom and depression ,at bay ,best I can ! Keeps me going !
