Hi All,

My name is Jane aka Mrs Cod, and I grew up on Cape Cod. I am new to scroll sawing. I do lots of other crafts, and I do some woodworking, but I just started using a scroll saw about a week ago. I am enjoying it very much. My husband woodturns so it will be nice to be together in the workshop.

Welcome Jane to Scroll Saw Village.

Wow, what a nice compliment you and your husband will be for each other.

The Village will make a perfect add. Not only do we have the answers to any question

you may have on scroll sawing but there are great wood turners here also.

What saw do you have? Please be sure and post pictures of anything; yourself, shop, other woodworks,

what you have for supper. And speaking of eating, got any extra clams or shrimp.

I suspect you live near a lighthouse or two...

How did the latest storm treat you?

Stop by the Coffee House for tea sometime soon. It's open 24/7 six days a week. ;)

A big welcome to you and I hope you also get your husband to log onto the. Village too as we are all interested in meeting him also and seeing some of his turnings. This place is loaded with friendly and talented people. We are located all over the world as you may or may not know yet. But if you log on often you will soon discover that.

Please feel free to explore everything you can here and check out the wonderful work of our generous pattern makers. Any of them are yours to download and cut. If you do decide to cut some of them we are always pleased to see your work using them. If you do post some of them it is nice to mention the pattern maker at the time. Logging on often and posting is the best way to get to know us and us to know you.

Hi Jane, welcome to the Village.  I'm Marg from Australia.  Hope you realize that scrolling is addictive and that there is no known cure. ;)   My husband is a carpenter and woodturner and I refuse to work in the garage when he is in there because he will suddenly hit something with a hammer and I jump, which is not very helpful when you are scrolling.   :o  ;)

Thanks all!  What a warm welcome. I am sure I will have lots of questions. Right now I am concentrating on how to do a tight corner. I am getting pretty good at curves and such. But turning a tight corner is taking some more practice. I have watched some youtube videos, which have been pretty helpful. That's how I foudn my way here and I am glad I did!

I will try to get my husband to sign on too. He has been turning for about two years and he belongs to a really great turning club. He hasn't had much time to turn lately, but that looks to change pretty soon.

I am also going to try to get my daughter to try scroll sawing. She's 22 and also loves to turn and do other crafts.

The weather has been coooold and snowy here. That's what made me decide to take the plunge and learn scroll sawing. I had the opportunty to try my hand at it during a demonstartion at Woodcraft and loved it. Money's a little tight right now, so I got a Porter Cable. I like it, but I will probably upgrade to a Dewalt or a Rigid at some point.

I will post pictures as soon as I find my camera again. I just did a scotty dog puppy that I really like. I am hoping to do mama dog tonight.

Welcome, glad you gave us the pleasure of meeting you.  I'm Paul from the other side of the US in Washington.  There is hope for your husband, I use to be a turning addict, but I started seriously scrolling about 8 months ago and I have not fired up my lathe since!  I've even considered selling my lathe, but I know if I did I'd be sorry.

Welcome,  from the Blue Ridge Mts of Virginia.

That's nice that you and your husband have similar interests.  My wife started coming out to the shop to see what its all about.  I noticed she took a

interest is sharping tools     I had to put a stop to that.  Not easy scrolling with one eye on the work and the other looking over your sholder.....

I am sure you and your husband will find a home here.  There are a great bunch of caring and sincere people who reside here.  Also a few on the witness protection program. (I am not supposed to talk about that)

Have a great day
