jerry1939 Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 This video is 3 minutes long, but everything after the 1 minute mark is a waste of your time. http://www.flixxy.com/train-dashes-through-the-snow-in-canada.htm jerry bobscroll 1 Quote
bobscroll Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 Thank you Jerry, We don't have that problem over here, Your trains are a lot bigger than ours, Also you get more snow! That was good to watch, Bob Quote
amazingkevin Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 I'll bet that was a sight to see! Quote
jamminjack Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 You got to look on the bright side of things. At least it doesn;t take the driver long to remember the rout! Later Jamminjack Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 Great vid if a train here hit snow it wouldn't be on the tracks anymore. Roly Quote
Lucky2 Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 ND oil cars headed where?? In the video, they're on their way to the Humpyard in Moncton,N.B. After they all pass over the hump to be lined up in order, they will be heading out west of here. Len Quote
Lucky2 Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 It's a cool video to watch, but, if your the Engineer of the train it's very unnerving. Just think of it for a minute, you can't see where your going, you can't see if there's something or someone stuck on the tracks. And even at the lower speed that this train was operating at, it would still take over a mile to stop it. Len Quote
rjR Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 Having way to much experience driving snow! Yes that has to scare the engineer at many times! I am never going to be driving in one again if I can possibly avoid it! I have been in blizzards where I literally felt my way with a vehicle and did not have rails to help stay on "track"! It is very scary-- but there were times that stopping was get stranded for?????? So tried and did make it through mostly! I was a "essential employee" and sometimes they had to come and get me! Once was a pay-loader- they are pretty good in snow if they are big enough! When the tires are 7 feet tall they can go through a lot of snow! Blizzards are no fun and snow banks can be deadly! Many people have frozen to death within a few hundred yards of good shelter because they did not know it was there or had lost orientation and were totally lost! Even staying in a stuck vehicle killed many. Quote
