Kevx
My wife is a 2nd grade teacher, so I made her a simple word art nameplate for her desk. Some of her fellow teachers saw it and wanted one too. So I made them, and gave them to them unfinished so they could have fun painting them. One of them was so excited that she posted this photo of hers on facebook, and said she couldn't wait to paint and glitter it. Now I'm getting a bunch of inquiries and they all want to pay me for something I was just doing to be nice. Several of these are for ladies in the front office so they'll be on display and I expect to have more people asking where they got them from. Seriously, What have I done? browders
Good job! What you have done is to turn a hobby into a money maker. Jim tomsteve
KurtP
They look very good. Might have to steal that idea. I made a name plaque for someone at work and I ended up getting lots of orders for them. I think I have made about 20 of them so far. If someone wants to pay for them I wouldn't so no. Helps pay for supplies. bobscroll

wombatie
That my friend is called the snow ball effect. You have one consolation, they are all different you are not cutting the same thing over and over again. Go for it. Marg By the way, I forgot to ask, what is the font you used, I quite like it. Scrappile
Make what you can without scaring them off. It helps buy supplies. That is a good thing.

Kevx
Thanks Everyone. I don't really need the money but I figure I better accept it so I don't get taken advantage of. Besides I can put the money towards the supplies needed for my upcoming grandfather clock project.
Kevx
By the way, I forgot to ask, what is the font you used, I quite like it. Marg It's called "casual tossed" or just "casual" without the wild slants to the letters. I tend to like thick and whimsical fonts for these. wombatie
LarryEA
Of course it looks nice, it is nice. Just as long as it stays fun and doesn't become a job.
Phantom Scroller
Kevin well done, I've done the same with a show and the people on the next table asked if I could make a sign for her table and before I knew it I was making them for everyone. redwine
I agree with the other comments that you have went from a hobby to a job! This will happen when you turn out an item that is perfect and can be used! This same thing happened to me back in 2005 when it went from a hobby to art & craft shows. Our business card is "Just My Hobby" The price Master Scroller quoted is in the ball park depending on amount of lettering and the wood used. Have fun and enjoy the benefits!
