Graeme Butcher
So i want to make something useful, something different. Moving parts?? I need ideas. I REALLY don't want to make words or a picture. Maybe something practical. The best reply gets a virtual high five from me!! Steve Curtis
You can make rubber band planes, they are still in after so many years, or maybe even a boat. I made lots of fishing lures with my scroll saw, sure did love doing that. Steve Graeme Butcher
Kevx
Look back to the Victorian golden age of scroll saw when they made many useful things for the home. Try http://www.finescrollsaw.comin their free pattern section for examples. Graeme Butcher and Scrolling Steve

heppnerguy
I thought about the bridge that Hans made and almost suggested that too. They interest me a lot too someday I may take on a bridge. That is a great idea for something different to make. Bendita
Dan
On one of the forums someone posted photos of a switch plate cover that looks like an old circuit breaker/fuse switch. It was made of wood and goes over an existing light switch. If I find the link I'll post it.

spirithorse
Hi, Birchbark (Russell) made some utilitarian patterns recently. For some reason, the only one I can recall at the moment is a coat rack. Look for posts by Birchbark. God Bless! Spirithorse

jamminjack
I made a 50 cal machine gun with a 360 degree turit. It shot 50 rubber bands...... The rubber bands were 24 inch long relaxed. and stretched to 42 inches. Had some power.... The gears were made out of oak. The handle and sites were out of walnut, and the rest was pine and oak. I made it for my grandson for Christmas one year. The cat and dog in the house have never been the same since. I will have to see if I can find the pictures and post them.
