OCtoolguy
This may sound like a silly question but I have to cut a galvanized electrical cover plate in order to fix our flag pole. The plastic part broke and it can't be purchased so I'm going to make on. My search so far has not been successful in finding a metal cutting blade that will cut something harder than brass or aluminum. Can anybody give me some idea if I'm searching in vain? Thanks, Ray AlfrediaMum
LarryEA
Ask those that 'sell' blades. From whom do you buy? Try ' SloansWoodshop.com ' they sell good blades and answer the phone 1-888-615-9663 Sloan's Woodshop - " The Scroll Saw Store " Edited February 25, 2015 by LarryEA

JustLarry
Mike shows 3 types of metal blades but do not know if they will do what you need. https://www.mikesworkshop.com/blades.htm Anyway you could use hack saw to get to general shape then file to get it just right? heppnerguy
I think that Kevin and Larry has the best direction for you to start trying. Also if you have a bench grinder that will possibly give you some fine tuning. Be careful as the metal will get hot. when sawing it, I would suggest using a vise if you have one. and some kind of pliers of lock grips when grinding, should you elect to give that a try.. A photo of what you are working on, might just bring up some better solutions. Dick heppnerguy
Scrappile
I would not even attempt that on a scroll saw. I would worry about hurting the saw cutting that heavy of metal with it and all those metal filings can't do it any good. Hacksaw and a vice is what I would do. Just my thoughts. OCtoolguy
Thanks to all. I will take the advice of using a hacksaw. I was just being lazy. I might buy a metal cutting blade for my bandsaw though. Here is a pic of what I'm trying to do. Ray
Multifasited
I would use a dremel ,slow and easy ! cutting inside just ahair then stone the finish ! OCtoolguy
Scrappile
Humm. that is not an easy cut with a band saw. If you don't have a dremel, I would cut the majority off in pieces with a hacksaw and them shape it with a grinder.
OCtoolguy
I never thought about using my Dremel. Thanks. Ray
JustLarry
I just recently found a "spiral" hack saw blade. It would make the cut after you drilled a pilot hole to feed the blade through. Larry
