Travis
I was reading in this thread that some of the scrolling magazines are hard to come by for our UK friends. So I thought I'd throw this out. If anybody wants me to mail the current issue of either Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts or Creative Woodworking & Crafts to you, let me know. I'll only do this for current issues on the newsstands and while my local bookstores have them in stock. It'll be regular newsstand price plus international shipping (It would be on the "slow boat" to keep costs down). But I'm guessing that you can get an issue for $10-12 delivered to you. Not super cheap, but probably cheaper than you can get them by international subscription. If you're interested, PM me and I'll figure out what it really costs and we can work out the details. JAY
Hi Travis, Thanks mate its very generous of you to go out of your way and offer us this, but since i've been on here its becoming obvious your just that type of fella who'll do whatever he can to help out! i think it must have been me who was writing about the cost of the mags and i had considered ordering, but spoke with the mrs......... who generously said i could have the money (of mine)!! But instead i used the cash to order some patterns online and got some lovely stuff as well, i've already started on them for Christmas gifts so at the min plenty on my plate to keep me busy but just wanted to say thanks again mate! p.s i've also started watching your Gimp and inkscape lessons (awesome by the way) so i'm gonna be getting well stuck into them and hopefully get started on designing (or at least playing with and practicing) my own stuff as this seems to be the way forward cheers bud! merlin
Travis I was going to ask a friend what he pays in NZ to receive SSW&C mag but he's out of the country for a while (lucky bugger). Any way a 1year sub cost 27.95 USD plus 8.00 p/p = $35.95 USD Todays exchange rate 39.25 NZD plus 11.25 p/p =$50.50 NZD That works out at $12.62 NZD per issue What is the mag 's price over there at the moment, still $5.99 USD That being the case can you get the post cheaper than $8.00 USD It takes up to 4-6 weeks for delivery Thanks for the offer Merlin
juvy
I'm in Australia..... when we do get SSW&C it usually is at least two months late... and they want AU $21.95 . Couldn't justify paying that no matter how much I wanted it. So I have subscribed .. much cheaper... What I can't understand is that in the US both their scrolling and carving magazine are 6.95 if I'm correct? In our newsagency here the carving one is ony AU 13.95... can't figure out why the difference... who makes up those prices? I couldn't justify that price no matter how bad I wanted the magazine... Woodworks is also AU13.95 and I just started a new subscription.... took 2 months to get the first magazine and so far I have not received any of the bonuses promised. I do believe subscription is the way to go for overseas folks like me because is included in the price .... much cheaper then the post office. Travis
I believe newstand price over here is either 6.99 or 7.99. Believe it or not, I still buy my mags off the newstand, which is completely stupid because it costs me a fortune. I usually find it easier to sneak in $8 into a monthly budget than to fork over $30 for a subscription. I'll just have to bite the bullet and get a subscription. Much easier and cheaper in the long run.
JAY
we should maybe gang together and bombard them with a few friendly enthusiastic e-mails to see if they can make the magazine available to download in a pdf format , i download the british army soldier mag online all the time saves a good few pennies in delivery and a good bit of paper!! makes sense and i find it just as easy and enjoyable to read, plus i can only gather they have some nice patterns to offer inside ...so if they're already in pdf or at least on computer your just a click away from printing
