Scrappile Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) Thought I would share this. This was posted in the Projects section on Lumberjocks website. I just thought is was very well done and made a very cool portrait of Batman. http://lumberjocks.com/projects/142210 The Gentleman that did it just goes by the username "Bob". THIS IS NOT MY WORK, although I wish it was.. Edited April 4, 2015 by Scrappile wombatie and Lucky2 2 Quote

bobscroll Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Nice pattern, But it's not my work, Bob Quote
LarryEA Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 It is different. Kinda reminds me of a skeleton. Hey Roly, is that Kevin in a mask? Great work. Roly Rob Roy and Larry A. Blakely 2 Quote
spirithorse Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Too bad there isn't a description of how this was done. It looks like the light areas were glued onto the backer but, no mention of thickness or anything. God Bless! Spirithorse Quote
Kragax Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 I don't see how you could get the grayscale without paint. Beautiful piece though. Quote
Scrappile Posted April 5, 2015 Author Report Posted April 5, 2015 He stated it was painted with glossy lacquer. I think the painting is what really sets off. Doesn't look like it would be difficult to do the scrolling pare. He must have an air brush for painting. Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 These are the minimalistic patterns you make a suggestion and the viewers brain comes up with the rest. Great job. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Quote
heppnerguy Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 I bet I could make this as an intarsia piece without much difficulty. Problem is; although it is indeed interesting, who would want it hanging on their wall? I like looking at it but my bride would never let this hang within the house. I guess it could hang on my shop but then no one would see it there anyway. If I knew someone that would want it, I would make an effort to make one LarryEA 1 Quote
Lucky2 Posted April 6, 2015 Report Posted April 6, 2015 It looks as if there's some sort of riser being used between the two layers, it also looks like the top layer may be a bit thicker to cause a shadow. Now, I'm not sure that either of these two things happened with this cutting, I'm just trying to figure it out. Len Quote
