Best type of scroll saw?

I had painted this Sun on a bar stool top and I want to cut the flames out so that I could actually hang it on the wall. Someone suggested trying a scroll saw for around the flames.  The bar stool top is about an inch thick maybe 1-1/16 and I was looking at the Dremel Moto-Scroll Saw.  I just wanted to see from people who are familiar with scroll saws if I'll have a problem since it's thicker piece.

Thanks!

I am not familiar with the Dremel. I do cut thicker pieces on my saw. I use a #7 or #9 skip tooth or crown type blabe. Just watch the speed of the blade and the speed you feed the wood. Take your time and play with a piece of the same wood to get a feel for it all. It also helps to cover it with packing tape, as the tape will help lubricate the blade.

I don't think I'd reccomend the Dremel Moto-Saw.  The throat capacity is fairly shallow and only accepts pinned blades.  I think you'll have more flexibility with a standard scroll saw (even if you don't get into the scrolling hobby).  There are some inexpensive scroll saws.  Look at the Craftsman 16" ($120) or the Porter Cable 16" ($180).  Here's a list of scroll saws and some user reviews.  Hopefully that will help.
