wombatie Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 A new shop opened in Hastings about 2 weeks ago. It is all Art and Craft from local artists. Local is a fairly large area but there are some amazing artists around here. Anyway I took about 6 or 7 of my pieces in and they loved them. They work on a commission basis which is fine by me. So all I have to do now is wait and see I guess. I was going to upload a map of the area but unfortunate it wont let me but is you Google Mornington Peninsula Victoria Australia and look for Hastings on the right hand side of the map and look for about 3 towns north and 3 towns south you will get the general idea. Multifasited Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Marg , Best of luck ! I would caution you to watch ,your agreement on pricing and consignment payments ,I have had the unpleasant experience of finding the prices changed (marked up ) increasing their profits while hindering my sales . I told Them ,I was disappointed ,and would either sell to them at the agreed upon price and they could sell for what ever they wanted ,or I was pulling the remaining stock . They did not like that idea so I pulled the stuff . Principal matters ,I won't Deal with that kind of CRAFTY People ,except on a cash Basis ! Live and learn ,WHO you can trust when money is involved ! Quote
Kepy Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Hope everything works out for you. Tried a similar setup several years ago and didn't do much as they tacked their commission onto my price and got too expensive, then one day went by and they were gone along with my inventory. Quote
Multifasited Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 YEAH ! THat almost happened to me ,I got wind that they were selling the store & moving ! Quote

rjR Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Wishing you the best of luck! I have not had great luck with consignment deals, but, so far; not terrible either. Quote
merlin Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Had some stuff in a crafty type store for about a year now and nothing but good, the lady was great to deal with and no large xtra mark ups, but sadly she is closing the store this weekend and have take my stock away and store it some where not sure where too much stock and no where to put it. So Marg not all stores are a pig to deal with,. hope you have more success than I have in the last 12 months. ***Merlin*** Quote
wombatie Posted April 24, 2015 Author Report Posted April 24, 2015 This one is run by the local Council that is why I went into it. We both signed a contract and they put down what I wanted for the items and what they would sell them for. If my things sell, they sell if not thats OK too. Marg Phantom Scroller 1 Quote
ike Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 I have had some good and some bad luck with consignment shops I had one that was very nice and sold loads of my stuff, then she sold the shop and after that every ting was down hill. the shop was about 35 miles away from my home and I only went once a month and the last time i went the shop was closed and left no forwarding address. Thats Life,Wishing you Lots of luck. I will try another one if I could find one. they do make good warehouses Quote
