I have a question for those who print in A4. A lot of patterns presented in PDF format are for the American standard of 8.5"x11". Are you able to print these patterns fine on A4 sized paper? I wasn't sure how well it converted or if the printing will distort the pattern at all.

I have had no problem so far as I havent come across a pattern that entirely fits the American standard page. A4 is 8.3" x 11.7".

If there was a problem then I would just use the "Scaling" option in my printer menu and reduce it to (say) 98% without any distortion or print it to 2 (or more) sheets of paper.

UUUUH! I have so many printing problems. I'm not sure about what A4 even means. My problem comes in the fact that (as you know), I like the bigger projects. So I have to print things in pieces and then tape everything back together. The largest printing option locally at print shops is 11x14. I did buy a new printer recently. I found the "fit to page" option really messes thing up on smaller items. It fits to page by reducing some items to a smaller scale than things on other pages. Then when I try to line things back up, thing don't line up, at all.

Like I said though, I think my problem comes with the fact that I make larger items. The biggest help I've gotten has actually been from you Travis. I learned how to do my oversized pattern using Inkscape from your videos on Scrollsaw Goodies.

See if your printer setup has a setting for International A4 and try that. This is bigger than American A4. The actual measurement is 210mm x 297mm -- about 8 1/4" by 11 3/4" Magic
