LarryEA Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 Corrugated cardboard is an excellent medium for buffing. It is equivalent to 600 grit sandpaper. I use it after the finish has dried. It leaves a very smooth sheen. This came to mind when I read a question. What grit sandpaper should I use between coats of finish? Use cardboard. It's cheap. mikewix 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 I know a lot of wood turners use brown paper bags when buffing. I have never tried it. LarryEA 1 Quote
dgman Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 I use a folded piece of brown paper bag just like a folded sheet of sand paper. I use it between coats of spray lacquer to take down any dust nubs. I also use it to even out the finish and to take down the gloss factor. I have never used cardboard but after all it is made from brown paper. LarryEA 1 Quote
LarryEA Posted May 29, 2015 Author Report Posted May 29, 2015 So next time you are at the grocery store have them pack in paper. Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 (edited) Never tried to sand with it!...But do use a built up stack under my projects when drilling entry holes..helps the bits last longer! Edited May 29, 2015 by Scrolling Steve LarryEA 1 Quote
