Scrolling Steve Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Love the bird house...is that a purple martin house?........Great job on the intarsia as well! Quote
rjR Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Cedar can be expensive! Nice work on both. "It call for cedar .Boy they don't give that away" Actually some do! I get a lot of cedar shorts and even sometimes nice length boards from the dumpster at a fencing company! Sometimes has a nail-- most new just rejects or cut-offs etc. Check with your local fencing companies; you may get some nice wood at extremely attractive prices. Some will even sell the fence boards (NEW) at better prices than the "limber-stores". If you make that score; you owe me one beer! Kris Martinson and Gordster 2 Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Very nicely done. I would next time use a wood well known for living in a watery area, Cypress. This wood is a whole lot cheaper currently about $1.70 board foot compared to Cedar, which is about $3.50 per board foot. Just something to consider. Sometimes however you can find someone doing a roof that has cedar shake. I really like your Bird Condo. It reminds me of several that I have seen at one of my Amish friends farm. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Quote
amazingkevin Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Perfectly designed mansion!,Free rent always! Love your intarsia's! Quote
Lucky2 Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 I just can't imagine paying for cedar, I can get all that I want for free. The local mill supplies it to me for free, I had done some work there in the past, and since then, I have never paid for any material that I get from them. I don't abuse the privilage though, and usually only go there twice a year. Len Quote
Lucky2 Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 I'm sorry, I forgot to mention your work. The birdhouse is spectacular, I really like the way the roof can be removed to clean it out. As for the intarsia, man that is something else. I just can't imagine the time and patience it takes, to come up with the results like you got with this one. Len Quote
Kris Martinson Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Good work on both projects. Intarsia is incredible. Quote
