Paul hd
#Like the Dolphins, like Dolphins can swim.# I came across a post by curtisintarsia and he did this pattern by Bob scroll. I just had to give it a go. I wish it looked like Steves. :-) Great pattern Bob. LarB and Lucky2
DWSUDEKUM
Nicely done Paul. That might look fantastic cut from colored plexiglass and bottom lit by a couple of LEDs. The Dolphins would really stand out I think. Very well done. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Paul hd

Paul hd
Hi DW. That's a bit of a coincidence, because straight after cutting the dolphin pattern today I cut this and thought just the same as you about doing the dolphins in plastic. DWSUDEKUM
That fairy is another example of one that could be bottom lit and would show up even better. Nicely done Paul. DW Paul hd
Scrappile
Two great pieces you are showing. Does not look at all like beginner work to me. I want to give some of that acrlyic cutting a try.
Paul hd
Thanks Scrappile. I must admit I've taken to it like a duck to water. I've also taken up turning on a lathe, equally enjoyable. I took some video today whilst cutting and I have a few questions in the vid. Any tips will be taken on board. Cheers

courdorygirl
When I cut out puzzle pieces, I always drill on a near a point so that when I'm sanding, I can round the drill mark off. For patterns such as this, though, I think it comes down to preference since it's all waste material. Second question, about what to cut out first. It's a matter of personal preference, I think. I always start with the smallest pieces and work my way up because of the fiddly little adapters I use for spiral blades. Paul hd
LarB
Those are very nice pieces - well done! Paul hd

wombatie
To answer your first question, as long as you drill a hole close to a line that is OK. If you have a large piece to cut out you can use a larger drill bit. Second question, I alway cut the smaller pieces first that way you are not trying to keep your wood from breaking. Thirdly, I think you will always find a void in all ply's no matter what type it is but of course the cheaper it is the more problems you may have. Well done on the dolphins it looks great. You certainly are a natural. Marg Paul hd
