OK, So I got the stain choice, (Golden Oak) - Good

Dipped the Cross and Base In Stain (Golden Oak ) - Good

Wiped excess stain ( Golden Oak ) off of Cross and Base - Good

Took Pics of freshly stained Cross and Base - Good

Set aside overnight for stain ( Golden Oak ) to dry - Good

Next day, came straight home from work to put clearcoat on - WHAT THE  H. E. Double Hockey Sticks Is this

That is because it got the end grain inside the plys on the plywood.  One way to help reduce that is to hit it with a stain prep before staining and then wipe it down real well after the stain has been applied.  OR you could stain it much darker and the bleed will not show.

I found this pattern a long time ago when I was doing more carving than scrolling and I converted it to a carved cross to be hung on the wall, I have a pict of it when it was complete but I can't seem to find it. This one was shortly before I finished
