heppnerguy
I am in the middle of two intarsia projects and every day by 2 pm by the heat. It has been over 100 degress in Heppner for the past couple of weeks and as soon as my shop reaches 92 degrees, I shut off my saw and go to the air conditioned house with my wife. She enjoys the extra time with me but it sure hurts to leave the shop in the middle of something I know I could have probably finished, had I been able to stay in there and work. It is 105 degrees here, right now .Dick heppnerguy Rob Roy
Gordster
Wow, Dick.you sure can't stay in there and enjoy your work. One option is to go to bed earlier and rise earlier which will give you more A.M. cooler time. And yes its hardkto leave projects undone. WayneMahler
Never fond of the idea of walking away from a project for any reason. Sounds like that heat could cause some problems though. We are thinking and looking at a house in Corpus Christi, gets pretty warm there too. Planning on putting a/c in the shop though. Mine right now never sees the temps above 75 or below 50 in the winters up here. oneleggimp, Rob Roy and heppnerguy

When the wife comes out and shouts at me for being in the shop when it's too warm or too cold, that's all the air con I need. . 100 degrees is just a wee bit TOO warm. You take care Dick and keep in the shade. Rob Roy. Edited July 3, 2015 by Rob Roy Gordster, WayneMahler and Phantom Scroller

Rob Roy
Dick tape a bag of frozen peas to the back of your neck. Roly Hey Roly, I tried the the frozen food caper a few years ago. I pulled a calf muscle. I put a bag of frozen carrots on it, but didn't wrap it in a towel or something to put round it to keep it off my skin, as a result it was a visit to the hospital with frost bite, looked like a BURN, skin all came off and it took weeks to clear up. The doctor gave me a lecture but the only two words he said that I can repeat here are YOU IDIOT, the rest were unrepeatable. Oh! there was one other word he used. IMBECILE. . Rob Roy. heppnerguy
I'd take that free beer too as long as it was in an air conditioned bar. At this moment it is 105.8 here. heppnerguy
I figured out how to work in my hot shop. Years ago I was traveling in a car with no air conditioning and it was over 100 degrees. I stopped at a restroom and took off my T-shirt and got it wet in the sink and wrung out as much water as possible and then put it back on. It was cold to put on at first but to my surprise it kept me cool for more than 45 minutes. The hot the wind was cooled in the same manner as cars radiator cools the heated water from the engine. So......back out to the shop I am heading Dick heppnerguy oneleggimp

kywoodmaster
Can't complain too much about the temps lately lower to mid 80s F but It has rained every day for the last two weeks. Not enough to really cool things off but enough to raise the humidity to 130%.
WigWag Workshop
I know i'm blessed, and I am thankful for having a Air Conditioned Workshop - I keep it at 70, just need to get a new Dehumidifier though, the hanging disposable ones are getting expensive. -Steven
Honeycow
So here I sit, on my porch, in very northern NY waiting waiting waiting for the hay in the fields to dry enough to rake. We have lots of acres mowed and we need the sun to come out to dry it. Yesterday the sun was overcast all day and today so far the same. I would love to see it get to high eighties for a day or so. At least till our hay gets in! Funny how each person feels Bout the weather!
Multifasited
Sorry !since I made my saw DUST FREE and moved into my in house shop aka computer room it,s-7-365 ! Just a thought ,if I go to the big shop is early for same reason !
crupiea
Obviously the solution here is to move the scroll saw into the air conditioned house.
heppnerguy
I could never move my saw I the house. I am way too much of a slob for that. But I just might keep my eye open for a used air conditioner for my shop and be ready for next year. This has been the most consistent high temperature and driest temperature on record for us. Right now it is 106.3 out side here. No relief for the rest of the week. We have not had any measurable rain for over two months.
