Paul hd Posted July 12, 2015 Author Report Posted July 12, 2015 Hi All. Quick update on the Churchill project. So I picked three quotes and asked our good friend Bobscroll to do the text for me. I had all intentions of finishing it today but I was surprised how long it took just to do one of the short quotes😳 So this is going to be finished the next time I get to spend all day in the shed. 😀 I started to use a No2 reverse tooth but it was not working out on the turns the lettering was just a bit too small. I should of resized it a little bigger but I liked it as it was. So next I tried a No 2 spiral, but I just could not get the tension right. As I was tightening just a little the blade snapped and this happened three times on the trot. 😠So I then went to the No 4 spiral and although it is a little bit wide for these letters it was all I had. It's not the crispest example of text but in a way I actually like the look👠The letter E gets a little fragile so on the reverse side I added a little bit of super glue to toughen it up a little. bobscroll 1 Quote
bobscroll Posted July 12, 2015 Report Posted July 12, 2015 It isn't easy with small letters, I think you did well considering what you were doing Paul, Can't wait to see it finished! Bob Quote
Paul hd Posted July 30, 2015 Author Report Posted July 30, 2015 Hi all. Finished cutting the quotes today. The text is cut with a No4 spiral and is a bit rough. I like to call it a Rustic look. 😋😀👠bobscroll 1 Quote
penquin Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 Looks great, that is the way I picture him from my recollection back in the day. He was a powerful leader. jim penquin Quote
bobscroll Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 Good work there Paul, I think you did well! As Jim said He was a great Man! And He was in the right place at the right time to help us out in the time of War, Thank you for showing, Bob Quote
Paul hd Posted July 31, 2015 Author Report Posted July 31, 2015 Thanks Jim and Bob. 👠Bob. I think next time I will ask for joined up text. My poor old thumb started getting sore on the knurled quick clamp. 😄😄👠bobscroll 1 Quote
