Scrolling Steve
Bill, if i had to guess i would say just technical problems on their end! ... I do not visit there as often as the village, but they seem to have a lot of tech, issues.....just got my fall issue of the SSWC mag. so i doubt that it is shut down. Scrappile
They are in the process of upgrading with new software. Apparently it is not going so well.
OCtoolguy
They are doing the same thing that they are in the process of doing at Woodcarving Illustrated. Evidently their sites were both hacked or had become very insecure. But, in the process of changing software to something more secure, they have run into problems with the integration of the new and old. The webmaster of the old software had written code into it that was not recognizable by the new software and they have had a devil of a time getting all the old stuff working with the new program. I have been in contact a few times with the crew that is trying hard to make it all work. In time, it will all be back up and running. In the meantime, I'm afraid that many of the old posters have become frustrated at not being able to use the new site and have fled. I sure hope they come back. I used to hang out at the carving site a lot and have learned a ton. Just like I'm doing now at this site. OCtoolguy
Yes, I know. I've been very busy trying to get everything done that needed doing. We are getting ready to hit the road for a couple of months and I had a lot to do to make everything here "automatic" while we are gone. I'll get busy soon. Sorry. DWSUDEKUM
I used to visit and post at least every other day... with the site down like it is is frustrating to say the least I have not been able to post anything or participate since they attempted to port over to the new software. Shawn Ferguson
Hi, gang.... As others have said, the forum is just down temporarily while they change over to new software. From my understanding, they want the new forum to look and operate very nicely when it goes live, and that includes importing all of the member attachments over, and appropriately allocating them, before that happens. Hopefully it will be back very soon......I miss it as much as everyone else (especially at times like this, when a new issue comes out.) For what it's worth, I've had a chance to see the new beta forum, and it looks very nice! If folks would like updates on the progress, they are periodically posted on www.scrollsawer.com, and there have also been several updates on the magazine's Facebook page. RangerJay
I don't tend to be a prolific poster - but like others - I found myself suffering withdrawal symptoms as each day goes by without the SSWC forum - it was my main "goto" scrollsaw forum - but having said that - my daily "fix" is now being very well met through this site - it's a great site - and I see enough familiar names on it to know that I'm not the only one from SSWC to move over here ..... when the SSWC forum gets back up and running I will be doubly blessed with two great sites - actually I guess triple blessed - have also been spending more time over at Scrollsaw Workshop Forum as well ....... NC Scroller
SSWC is in the progress of migration the forum to new software. The prior site was on a platform that was not supported and lacked some security. They posted this on their Facebook page yesterday. "Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Magazine Looks like sometime this week. The import went well; we're just double checking the settings and the overall look of the forum." Hopefully by the end of the week and we will once again have two sites to get our scrolling fixes. Looks like it will take a little getting used to - I had the same trouble - then answered the little arithmetic question - and away the post went ..... maybe they want us to improve our math skills (and that was my worst subject in school) ......
