savethebeer
Hello Kevin, I'm not a geek but we got an email from my IT section just today mentioning windows 10 and how windows 11 are waiting around the corner till windows 10 is set up properly, so I wont be upgrading my personal laptop till 11 is ready to go ahead. I am minded to follow AK [he's probably a very nice guy] and his signature of 'ifs its not busted then don't mess it up](or something similar) Bob

KurtP
I've upgraded all 3 of my computers at home and I've installed it on 2 computers at work for testing(I work in the IT Dept.) Definitely do not use the express settings. Choose the custom settings and read all the items and make your choices. I only had issue with one laptop at home and it was just a driver not working. The work computers went fine but we don't like the Microsoft Bloatware on them so we wont be upgrading the rest of the PC's until we figure out how to permanently get rid of stuff. OCtoolguy
I have had Win 7 for over 5 years and know it pretty well. Can any of you folks who have done the upgrade to 10 give us any idea of what is changed? And how it is better than 7? I know I'd appreciate it. I have been holding off upgrading until there is feedback from the masses on how well it works. Hope to hear good news. Ray

Phantom Scroller
Well chaps & chapesses it looks like we will all have to upgrade eventually because those nice windows people are going to stop all updates to 7 and 8 like they did with XP so perhaps a reason to bite the bullet. OH Well sh-- happens.
NC Scroller
Phantom at least they are letting us update for free this time. It takes some of the sting out. Phantom Scroller
bandaideman
Well my wife and I both had the invite to down load. My wife first then a week later me. She did not have trouble downloading and seems to have worked for her. She had some things she was not used too but has figured out what she likes and don't like and she is good at ignoring what she don't want. I got mine in OK but then had difficulty with the get started. the video came up but did not play. She had a whole tutorial but did ignored it.. I did see the things that were already in that I did not need and did have some concern of who was getting what information. I managed to get through things mainly by guess and by golly. Prior to get window's 10 I did down load inkscape and there was a lot I thought of strange things downloading and MacAfee questioned one part as a virus. I just deleted it. then windows 10 came in and lots of things strange happened, after about a week or less my computer would not start just had dark screen and if it cont. alt dele it said hit escape to restart then none of the options worked the first 2 tries nothing happened. finally the only option I had was reset back to factory settings. That left me with nothing. Went to windows store and nice young man said not going to get info back and we down loaded all the windows updates. took several hours actually all night. But I have win 7 back and am re-inputing my information and am happy at least at this time. I am assured it was not windows 10 and my computer was working perfectly normally. I do not know that the inkscape had anything to do with it either but I will see how others do before I tell them to try again. I still have until July.
