savethebeer
I'm looking for photos or patterns of tree climbing figures so I can make some out of driftwood branches using my scroll saw and my band saw. I cant find what I'm looking for so far. I've googled 'wooden tree climbing figures', 'wooden stick figures climbing trees' or similar combinations of words but I've yet to see exactly what I'm looking for. Anyone know what name these figures are known by? Bob

savethebeer
Sorry AK, I didn't explain things well. What I want to do is make the actual figures, not silhouettes. A chunky tree limb for the body with thinner limbs as arms and legs. Arms and legs nailed to the body are no problem but I'm having difficulty fixing head to neck to body without giving the impression that its Frankenstein I've created. I was hoping to see a few photos to give me some solution. I was hoping someone could come up with a definition or a name of these figures that I could type into Google just to see photos and find out how to attach the head without nails being too obvious. What I have done up to now is use the neck piece of wood and insert it into holes drilled into the head and the body [sort of like a dumbell] but I'm having difficulty making these joints strong enough that the head does not fall off [which it has done!]
heppnerguy
You have a tough request. I went on Google images and typed in People figures made from driftwood. And I could not find anything that worked out well. Sorry hope you find something Dick heppnerguy
DonR
Bob, Is this what you are looking for? https://www.pinterest.com/clairedbarber/driftwood-projects/ https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=driftwood+dolls&FORM=HDRSC2 Don R Edited August 19, 2015 by DonR Travis
savethebeer
Thanks Don for your suggestions but that not them either. I will make one up and post the photos then we can all agree on a title to call them for future reference. Claire put together the board you sent me and there are a huge selection of driftwood craft ideas that she pinned that I haven't seen on the current driftwood pages so thanks for that. savethebeer
Hi folks, I had a flash of genius [or somethin ] yesterday and spotted similar figures on Pinterest so I chased up the link and lo and behold what I was looking for all along was 'wooden flower pot men'. Thanks for all the help above. Bob
Travis
I fixed the link. It was going to Esty, com, not Easy.com. The link seems point to the right place now.
