john shankel Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 question ,what side do you cut first the face or the side? Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) John i had never thought about you question until ordered some compound cut birdhouse ornaments by Diana Thompson, Her written instructions say to start on the face or left side of the block.....I plan on doing these for Christmas presents , so have not cut one yet ....The instructions seem very straight forward and clear, so i will be starting on the left side or the Face of the pattern....That's just my 2cents..........Let's see what others say . dgman Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 Hey John, I have cut hundreds of the mini bird houses. For me it doesn't matter which side you cut first. john shankel 1 Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 Cut the most difficult side first.then tape it up to finish it off the other side. Roly Scrolling Steve, LarryEA and john shankel 3 Quote

campasano Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 It does not matter which side you cut first, I do not like to use clear tape as it seems the fine sawdust gets under the tape and obscures the lines. I use clamps ( different sizes for different thickness of wood ) Mike john shankel 1 Quote
bandaideman Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 I usually do the face first then the other. If there are cut outs I do them first. On the birds I think Diana on making the birds suggested doing them right first then left. I will check again I am not sure it makes a difference but I did to the birds that way. john shankel 1 Quote
