Band saw blade in scroll saw

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and scrolling and I saw a video of someone whose cut a used bandsaw blade and ground it down on the top and bottom to fit a scroll saw. I also have been turning a Lot of pens lately and was wondering if I could do this to easily rip straight lines in thicker stock like 1 1/2 " into 3/4" turning blanks. I definitely don't want to do something that would put unwanted strain on the machine that would cause harm or cause safety issues. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Bandsaw blades are made to really be cutting on one direction with all the forces in the direction of cutting.  As we all know a scroll saw reciprocates, goes in both directions.  The blades tend to be very very aggressive so for ripping it would work ok.  A #12 will do the same thing as the bandsaw blade but there is no need to do any shaping or grinding on it.

I have not used them in a scroll saw but would scare me a bit. for pen blanks I used to use the larger blade # 9 or 12 but found and hand miter saw box (cheap) at I think Menard's or Harbor freight and this works great to cut the blanks to size and straight which is harder with scroll saw. I do have a band saw which I can use to resize wood for blanks or resaw.
