LarryEA
A local lumber company wants a stencil cut for spraying their logo on the sides of their lumber packs. The stencil is about two feet by two feet (2' x 2'). They want it cut in 1/8" plexaglass. My question is what is the best blade for cutting 1/8 inch plexaglass. I have some #1 spirals or large variety of straight ones. Some of the stencil can be cut with a jig saw but most like the curves I need to be cut by the scroll saw. Thank you Larry
fredfret
A #5 skip tooth non reverse, Slow saw down (test speed on scrap), TAPE your lines. Thats what I do and I have very few problems unless I get in a hurry. Melting back together is bad!! Fredfret wichita,ks LarryEA
DWSUDEKUM
Larry I use a # 5 ultra reverse or a #7 ultra reverse and you have to tape the area on BOTH sides to help keep the melting down. I would not use a spiral as it probably would clog and then start melting the acrylic. DW LarryEA, Scrolling Steve and Lucky2
WayneMahler
I will agree with the number 5 reverse. Taping both sides will help keep it from chipping out. Slow the saw down to a crawl and take your time and you should be fine. Let us know how it works out and a pic of course LarryEA and oneleggimp

rjR
Tape TIGHT too! Very snug to the plexiglass!
bandaideman
I would agree with either blade choice. I don't use spiral for anything I have them just not figured how to use them. Taping is a must both sides and I have always had good success with Duct tape glue the pattern to the duct tape. Very slow. I found this procedure on Sloan's web site years ago when I purchased some plexi to make ornaments and other patterns. Works well. Main thing slow WayneMahler

LarryEA
#5 and the tape...Thanks all. But because of how the pattern is applied, I can only tape one side.... The pattern is sprayed on.... Again, I really appreciate all comments...even Steve's
