dgman
I'd be interested to know if the brushes on a DeWalt saw have ever failed. Been using DeWalt saws for twenty years, I have taught scroll saw at the local Woodcraft store for the last six years and have been a member of a very large woodworkers club for the last 14 years. I have never heard of brushed failing on the DwWalt saw. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I've just never heard of it happening.

I still have my original brushes. I guess they can and do fail or at lest wear out but I doubt it is common. dgman
BBerguson
I would check for a burned wire or connection. Wire connections will easily burn in half if they are loose at all. I have a Bosch random orbit sander that quit one day. I opened it up and found a burned off connection exactly as I described above. A little be of fanagaling with a new piece of wire and a new connection and the sander was running again like new. It was about 12 years old at the time and it owed me nothing and I could have easily tossed it. That was about 6 years ago and it's still running strong. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar was wrong with your saw. Bryan Edited December 1, 2016 by BBerguson
jamminjack
dgman, It's not blowing fuses. I took the switch apart and blew it out. Still not working. Plugged it into different outlets with no luck. Hope it's not the motor. I'll have to take it in to the DeWalt repair center Tuesday and see what's going on. I might just upgrade to an excalibur 21 inch. The lowest price I've seen so far was $899.00 with stand and foot pedal and free shipping. The hardest thing about upgrading to a EX-21 is finding one..... I agree with dgman, there very might be a simple explanation for the shut down. My two cents worth I would go thru everything one more time, and double check. It could be very simple fix. Jack
