rdatelle
Hi everyone. Well I've been sitting here just reading everyone's post seeing that I can't do any scrolling since my DeWalt 788 is still in the repair center for 4 weeks , so they say. I'm still contemplating buying an Excalibur 21 inch or the 16 inch. There's a big price difference there to. The 16 inch is going for $549.00 and the 21 inch is $899.00. Big difference for 4 more inches. I have a lot of scrolling to do to. Well hopefully I'll decide by the end of the week. amazingkevin
Falcon
Sorry for your predicament. I ended up with the 16" just because of the price difference. Very happy with it.
tomsteve
i himmed and hawwed on the 16 or 21. figured tnat in tne years ivd scrolled did i very very rarely need the throat capacity of the 788. then ended up with an ex16 and footswitch under the christmas tree last year. ive done quite a bit of scrolling with it and have been very happy witn it and dont miss the added throat depth.and tne footswitch.... its awesome!!! DWSUDEKUM
Ralph sorry to hear about your withdrawal. On the bright side now is the time to organize the shop so that when you do get your saw back you can set up and get right to easing those withdrawal symptoms:) Having the bigger saw is nice, the cost, at least for me would be a limiting factor at the moment. Are you going to have room for 2 saws? DW
kardar2
I hope you are up and running soon. I bought the ex 21 thinking that would be big enough for what I need. Yep you guessed it I done a few projects that makes me wish I had a bigger saw. LOL sawdust junkie

Sorcier
I am not sure, but I think Dennis may be suggesting the excaliber. Somewhat subliminal, but I just gotta feelin. I just upgraded to the Dewalt, so I am not in a position to advise. Ward

Lucky2
Ralph, buy the EX21 if at all possible, the EZ16 is a nice "little" saw. But, it's so much nicer to have the extra cutting capacity of the EX21. When I upgraded, I went from a 16" saw to the 21" saw and was amazed at how much more I cut cut because of size. rdatelle
Thanks guys for all the advice. A lot of different suggestions out there. Hopefully they can fix the 788 which is a 20 inch so I will always have that one if I needed it. Maybe the 16 inch Excalibur for my main saw would be the way to go. I'll have to try and make room for it. I have to band saws, so maybe i can move one of those somewhere .
Scrappile
I think you would have a great setup there. Maybe you could build one of those cabinet where the saw are a flip top. When you need the Ex it is on top in use, need the Dewalt and you flip the top and the dewalt is on top. rdatelle
Hey scrappile, I like that Idea. Wish I had plans for it. I'm kinda of limited for space in my garage. I'd have to give up parking my van in there.

I'd have to give up parking my van in there. I feel your pain. I have to move all kinds of stuff to get to my saw with two motor scooters, two bicycles, a huge side by side fridge, a freezer, hurricane shutters stuffed in a corner and of course the requisite generator you need if living in Florida. Moving our van outside still means lots of other moving of stuff to get set up. Slowly but surely I'm getting rid of all I can. I could use the extra few inches the garage door wind braces take up.
