these type of projects are to me one of the easiest, i just cut out everything  ( LEAVE THE BORDER ), Paint with Anita's or similar craft paint. use scrap wood for spacers, glue in upside down, glue onto a sheet of plywood ( for neater appearance from back, cut border. drill hole to hang at balance point.
