Good morning,

Started scrolling about 5 years ago with a Dremel saw that you had to chase around the bench.  Novelty wore off quickly, and I put the saw under the bench and left it.

Found a rebuilt DW788 and made the big buy.  It's an absolute dream to use.  Unfortunately I'm running out of ideas and people to give projects to.

Be prepared for lots of questions once I read all the posts here.

Looks like a very god site.

First John, if you read all the posts, we may not hear from you for a year or so.

As Roly said,'A big WELCOME from me John ask away we love questions.'

Almost every scroll question has been answered correctly once. You have to choose the one. :D

Just kidding, maybe not once.

John, Welcome to The Village. Like has been said in the previous posts, we have answered a lot of questions here but we all are still learning from each other as we go along. If you are married, give gifts to the wife, they love it when you are thinking about them. Check out our pattern library, I am sure you will find many things to cut, and remember that Christmas is just a little way off and homemade items can be so personal. Everyone loves the personalized gifts from someone. If you find you are having any kind of problems with your cutting, your saw or finishing a project or attaching or taking off a pattern, fire that question out here and you will find an answer, probably several of them awaiting you, probably  on the day you ask it. But you can't get your answers unless you log on here often. But that is to your advantage because that is how you discover you now have many new friends, that you probably will never meet but will come to like and look forward to chatting with them. In case you did not know it, the correct blades is one of the biggest factors in being happy with your cutting results. DO NOT USE THE BIG BOX STORE SCROLL SAW BLADES as they are incorrect. Ask if you do not understand this. Hope to see you around here often, perhaps daily.

Welcome from fellow Canuck.  I am just down Hwy 12 in Brooklin.

Lots of inspiration here.  Take a look at the "University" topics to learn how to make and modify your own patterns.  Gives you even more things to scroll.

There is a separate post in Patterns about creating Intersecting Art.  I have been doing some of these with names.

Also, when I started I did a lot of patterns from Steve Good.  He has a blog that he sends out email patterns and ideas.  Also, there are free program for key chains and plaques.  I have done over 100 key chains and countless name plaques.  ( I do a name plaque for each of my Grandkids teachers).  His personalized ornaments are also one of my go to projects.  I do an ornament for everyone at Christmas as a seating card. (21 each year)

Good luck and if you ever this way let me know.

Don

PS:  I am on a lot of forums and this is the best.
