I always say the best part about being retired is avoiding the daily commute. I had a 33 mile commute each way, through St. Paul and Minneapolis to the western burbs. On a good day it was an hour to work and in the snow an hour and 15 to and hour and 30. Coming home was always worse. You could tack on 30 minutes or more to those times. I once had a 3 hour drive home in heavy snow. The only good thing was that I worked 4-10's with every Friday off, it helped me keep my sanity.

Once all the jobs have been transferred to China, we can watch them sit in traffic for a LOT longer!  And we can all ride bicycles(because we won't be able to afford anything else).

I'm a 'producer' and drive 62 miles roundtrip four times per week(4 10hr shifts), and I can agree with the sanity 'oldhudson'!  I leave for work much earlier then really necessary, but I get to avoid the traffic(so worth it), but the evening.....errrrr!  I'll just say there are a LOT of people that believe that the road is ONLY theirs.
