wood chips
I have been a woodworker a lot of years and a scroller for 10 years. I really like to do Intarsia and have completed about ten pieces, Right now I am betwix/between on two saws, Dewalt 788 or the Delta 40-694 I know both are very well made and both have plus and minus, any thoughts out there? Yhanks for input woodchips
LarryEA
John, There is a "Scrollsaw Review" here you can check out. I have two Deltas and both run well. I chose Delta over Dewalt because of price. I've always heard there is little difference between the Dewalt and the Delta. Anyway, welcome! wood chips

dgman
Welcome to the Village John! Either of these saws will work out great for you. Things to compare are warrantee, availability, and of course price. Also items included like the stand. Don't consider weather it comes with a light as they are crapp. The next step up would be the Excalibur EX 21. A lot more expensive, but worth it. Let us know what you choose. wood chips

JohnR48
Welcome to the forum John. You will find lots of information, help and some humor here. I own the Dewalt and have never had a complaint with it. I moved the bottom arm out 3/16" and it made a significant difference. There is an article about this modification in this site. Hope you enjoy it here.

heppnerguy
I have had my DeWalt for over ten years and I love my machine. Is it the best ? Perhaps not. Is it better than most of the machines out there? probably. I think it is the best machine for the money and I am very happy with mine. I also own a Hawk, but I am most at home with my DeWalt. So there you have my view point. I would suggest looking on Craigslist as there are often good saws that are hardly used at a good savings Dick heppnerguy
