ichibob
Looking great Rusty, keep posting the progress. I'm working out of an original 8 x12 that I extended to a 14 x 12 last year. Now I am out of room again! You are starting at a good size. I have another year in the corporate world then I will retire for the second time. I think my first 'retirement job' will be one more expansion, gut and refit the inside. I am thinking of a finished exterior of about 22 x 12 - if I can convince my wife to give up that much of her flower garden!
Southern Scroller
Gosh, all that room! Great.
Phantom Scroller
Wow Rusty I love the shape of the shop over there a lot of work on the roof sections, great bench length and fitted saw, wish I had all that space very envious. Where's the comfy chair. Roly PS: Not being picky but that table saw needs cleaning. haa haa
Sparkey
The table saw is from the 1960's. It belonged to my wife's father. Sad thing is I used it a few days ago and went to use it the next day and it died. A new motor is around $350 and I can buy a new saw for around $250. Here is the pic of my scroll saw. heppnerguy
Things are coming together nicely. I almost missed your latest post and was getting ready to move the the next forum section when I spotted it and wanted to go and check out your progress. One question though, do you have another door, other than the over head door ? Just curious.. Dick heppnerguy
Sparkey
No just the one door.

I love old saws, check around and see if you can get the old motor rebuilt. It may be cheaper then buying a new one. I would hate to see that old saw find its way to the scrap yard. Anyway, very nice shop you got going on there. I am in the process of designing mine and will probably be about the same size as yours. Keep up the pics, I love to see different ideas for layout and storage. oneleggimp

amazingkevin
The entire inside will be insulated with plywood over it. a real beauty! I brought a few tools over from the other house. Sorry I'll have to get a picture of the scroll saw. Just what you need!

Check the cord check the outlet, check the switch,If its the motor its something simple as theres no rhyme or reason for it to just go like that.I 'd love to check it out for you but were a ways apart. If its none of the above ,on the black wire inside the motor back is a thermoster If it over heats it pops off ,a couple buck item. It's encased in woven fiberglass or asbestos.I pick up fans that look new but don't work because they fell over and over heated before some one picked it up.It's always on the hot black wire stuck inside the fields metal core.Snip the string that holds all the wires together and pull gently out the black wire and you'll find the sock with the thermoster inside either replace it or twist the wires together .I do the latter. wombatie
Oh to have that much space all to myself..........heaven. I have to share with Terry. Love the shape of the workshop and its a blank canvas, just think of all the scroll work you can decorate it with to match the seasons or the holidays.  Marg
heppnerguy
No just the one door. Oh you may want to add a man door as the overhead door will let a lot of heat in or out, really fast, I think.. just me take, but for me it would not make a lot of difference because I heat my shop with a little wood burning stove Dick heppnerguy
orangeman
I bought my dust collection system from Oneida, http://www.oneida-air.com/ I gave them a layout of the equipment in the shop and they designed the proper size duct work and fittings. I purchased a cyclone/cartridge filter and the duct work and fittings from them. Very happy with their service! Sparkey
I bought a new motor for the old table saw for $145. Also bought a new belt and it is running like new. Went out to look at new table saws and they just don't make them as sturdy as the old ones. Glad to have the old one running. bobscroll, ichibob and CMHN

heppnerguy
Again, I have to say , you are doing a wonderful job. It is about what I have in mind for my new shop area. You are making me think that perhaps I should take my time and do it right. I get too excited to put things in operation and usually end up hurry too fast and cutting corners so things never get to the place I really want them to be. I hope your influence is strong enough for me to do things right this time Dick heppnerguy
