john shankel
my question is why do i have to leave in all the trash from the first side . when cutting the second side ????
Sycamore67
Not certain what you mean by trash. You need to leave as much as possible to be able to keep the piece at a 90° angle to the first side when cutting the second side. If you have little pieces from the first side that are from the middle, then those can be trashed. john shankel
dgman
To keep the piece stable. If you remove the fallout, your finished piece will move around and come out irregular. I use a home made clamp ficture to hold everything in place while cutting. Steve Good has one in his pattern catalog, but mind is a lot simpler. I actually have two different sizes. john shankel and Scrolling Steve
bandaideman
I use a home made clamp as well and like this better than trying to hang on. Also good for very tiny cut outs john shankel

DWSUDEKUM
my question is why do i have to leave in all the trash from the first side . when cutting the second side ???? john by keeping the trash I assume that you mean what you just cut the answer is yes. This provides support for the second side to be cut. A lot of times I cut one side then clear tape it back together and cut the second side then take it apart to get my compound cut out. Muzz
I use tape as well. Double sided carpet tape is reasonably thin and the pieces are always well bonded together.
