Lucky2
Hi Len. It's the wood props on top that rotate. Yes Helmut, I realize it's the top blades that rotate, they rotate from the updrafts from the candle heat. But, on the inside of the pyramid there's usually people or animal figures, and sometimes even a christmas scene. Or at least that's the way the others that I've seen built work like, and the ones I have a pattern for have interior decorations also. To see what I mean, you would have to check out Volker Arnolds patterns, they have the interior items that rotate with the top blades. kywoodmaster
I can't think of anything to say that has not already been said. After seeing your post that everything is done with a hand fret saw just makes it that much more amazing. Beautiful work.
savethebeer
Hello Helmut, Wonderful work. Just a few questions. I've seen these in the continental Christmas markets and I've also seen the documentaries about 'homemade' Christmas decorations and I've seen how those items are just a production line. Your candle holders are for thin candles [how did you make those holders] but have you tried the tealight candles and is the effect similar [as regards the heat turning the blades] seeing as tealight holders are easier to come across. How many levels down did your propeller shaft go down and how did you make sure the propeller would revolve as in did you use candle wax or similar to lubricate the propeller head? helmut
Hello Bob, the candle owners I turned. Into the candle owners properly matching brass pots were inserted. Into it the wax candles are set. Tealights do not produce the necessary warmth (thermionics). The drive shaft consists of a round bar (10mm) at the lower end is used a steel pin in the center. This steel pin was set in the lower ground on a glass camp. At the top of the wave likewise a steel pin is centrically assigned. On this pin the pyramid head is set. helmut
